About Dr. Mäenpaa

Dr. Garath Mäenpaa is a non-operative sports medicine physician who is in private practice and practices in Philadelphia and suburbs. He is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Mäenpaa grew up in the United Kingdom. He is a 1992 graduate of University of Sheffield Medical School and trained in the United Kingdom where he had emergency room training before completing a residency in Phoenix Arizona in 1997. He then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine in 2002 at Pennsylvania Hospital after practicing primary care in Savannah Georgia and Las Vegas Nevada.

He has practiced in Philadelphia for last 7 years and has been the Head Team Physician for Rowan University since 2003. He has worked with the Philadelphia Phantoms, Philadelphia Kicks, Camden Riversharks and other teams and sporting events such as AVP Volleyball Womens World Cup soccer and Concacaf Gold Cup soccer.

Dr. Mäenpaa is an avid soccer player and fan, as well as a keen golfer and also enjoys cycling, surfing, sailing and especially kite surfing.
